Stopping Garnishments
If you are having bank accounts or wages garnished by a creditor, our office can be stopped instantaneously by filing a bankruptcy for you. We then notify your creditor and employer of the filing and no more garnishments will occur during the bankruptcy. While some debts (child support, maintenance, some taxes and student loans) may not be discharged in bankruptcy, most other debts are discharged and there will be no further garnishment of bank accounts or wages for those debts that are discharged.
